| Well so much for sunny Cannes. Today the rains came, along with the wind and cold weather.
But even the bad weather couldn’t dampen the spirits in our DVD Club. People were still buzzing about last night’s DVD Awards.
(pic 1&2) | (pic 2) | Congratulations to our DVDA Members who won [at MIPCOM] this year.
Screenlife for Scene It: Music Edition – Best Game.
Aleen Stein, DVDA Board Director and member of NY Chapter accepted on behalf of Screenlife.
Blink Digital for Paul McCartney Live in Red Square – Best Music DVD. This is the second year in a row that Blink Digital has won a DVD award at MIPCOM. Gerard Schmidt, DVDA International Director and member of NY Chapter accepted once again on behalf of Blink. | (pic 3) | In the afternoon, the DVD Club was busy with members and delegates conferring about upcoming DVD projects and next years award program. <- (pic 3) | (pic 4) | The DVDA was once again at the cutting edge supplying critical information to the delegates of MIPCOM when we hosted a seminar in the DVD Club.
The presentation was entitled, “Everything you wanted to know about Next - Generation DVD but were afraid to ask.” The session was presented by DVDA Board Member, Bruce Nazarian, “the DVD Guy”.
This presentation was videotaped and will be available online for DVDA members as part of the upcoming total revamp of the DVDA.org website.
A Q and A followed the presentation with DVDA President Bernie Mitchell, and DVDA Board Members Aleen Stein, and Gerard Schmidt. <- (pic 4)
| (pic 5) | In addition, all throughout MIPCOM, we were demonstrating HD DVD content on an Apple G5. "The Macintosh solution with DVD Studio Pro 4 and Final Cut Pro 5 shows off what is possible today, and hints at what will be possible next year" said Nazarian.
The DVDA would like to thank Apple Computer Europe who provided a state-of-the-art Dual 2.7 GHz G5 and Cinema Display on which to demonstrate the beautiful images possible with high-definition content, and next-generation encoding. <- (pic 5) | (pic 6) | And in another bow to Apple, here is Gerard Schmidt, Jean-Luc Renaud, Bruce Nazarian and myself all hard at work in the DVD Club on our Apple Power Books. <- (pic 6)
