Dispatch from MIPCOM - Days Four and Five Thursday Oct. 20 and Friday Oct. 21, 2005
The sun returns to Cannes, France (pic 1)
The DVD Club in action at MIPCOM 2005 (pic 2) For the last two days of MIPCOM, things stayed very active in the DVD Club. We had lots of meetings and consultations about DVD with the participants at MIPCOM. (see pic 2)
We showcased the new Next Gen. Summit DVD-Rom that contains all the presentations from our DVDA/NIST Summit that was held in Washington, DC a few months ago. This disc has hours of video on it, and tons of information about Blu-ray, HD-DVD, and Holographic Technologies. DVDA members will soon be receiving this disc. If you are not yet a member, now is the time to join.

Many thanks to Broadness, LLC for authoring the disc and to Simon Roue (shown in the photo) of 24/7 DVD in the UK for replicating the discs for us to have both at the UK DVDA chapter meeting and here in Cannes. (pic 3)
And sadly, all good things, including MIPCOM 2005 must come to an end. It was a great show, congratulations once again to all the winners of the 2005 MIPCOM DVD AWARDS. The DVD Association is proud to partner with Reed-Midem on this event and to host the DVD Club. We trust that many great ideas that originated here, will soon find their way onto future award winning DVDs.
My personal thanks are extended to DVDA Board members Aleen Stein, Bruce Nazarian and Gerard Schmidt for helping to make this a great week.
With regrets, it is time bid adieu to Cannes. (pic 4) I hope you have enjoyed these dispatches. MIPCOM is just one of many activities that the DVD Association is involved in world-wide. If you are not yet a member, please join us.
Au Revoir,
Bernie
