Toshiba unveils HD-DVD recorder with 1 TB hard drive space

Toshiba announced teh RDD-A1 HD-DVD record with a one Terabyte worth of hard drive space. Up to 130 hours of high-definition video can be stored and up to 230 minutes of that content can be burned to a single HD DVD disc. Unfortunately, the recorder will only be sold in Japan.

"Neither side is giving up. This is tit for tat," Roger Kay, principal analyst at Endpoint Technologies Associates, told TechNewsWorld. "It's one more blow to HD DVD, but I don't think it tips the balance definitely. If it were me, I'd be waiting until this standards debate settles down. You could get marooned in the standard that turns out not to be the winner."

Tepid interest seen for next-gen DVDs in 2006

DVDA rocked NAB with "Next-Gen DVD Sessions"

DVDA would like to thank all who attended our Next Gen DVD track on Sunday at NAB PPWC, and those who sought out the DVDA presents: Next -Gen Roundtable" this morning.

We had a rockin' good time both days, and really appreciated the participation of our many stellar presenters, as well as our many feiends, DVDA members, and DVD-interested persons who participated in the audience. Our Next Gen roundtable went into serious overtime, as questions flew fast and furious from the audience, and in some cases even the presenters themselves!
